RE: Notes 6.0.2 exception ~Fred Opfoomanjip 16.Jul.03 01:24 AM a Web browser Notes Client 6.0.2 CF1Windows 2000
Try Compacting the workspace/desktop file. I have a user that has the same thing happen to him, but only when he opens databases on a specific server for the first time. I've been making him compact his workspace before opening a new database and it has kept the crashes to a minimum...however I doubt you'll want to do that every time you reply to a message.
There are so many possibilities that he'll probably have a different computer by the time if figure out an answer...but that's another story.
Did you upgrade to R6 from R5 or do a fresh install? If you upgraded, you could try converting all your local databases to the new R6 file format--compacting them will accomplish this for you. The simplest way to do this is to do an offline compact from the command prompt...go to the notes directory and run the ncompact.exe task. It will compact all your databases in the data directory, converting them to the new file format.
Another tip I can offer is that after a major crash occurs, there is usually a ~.lck file in the data directory that prevents you from starting notes w/o restarting the computer--even if all the notes tasks are ended in the task manager. If you delete this file, you'll be able to restart notes w/o restarting Windows. This won't solve your problem, but it will make it less painful for you to troubleshoot.
